Baby biOrb Aquarium with Halogen Light, Silver, 4 Gallons Reviews

Review by Sandra L. Zarembski: 5 Aquarium Bowls

51R6C7KanBL. SL75 Aquarium BowlsI totally recommend this aquarium kit for anyone just starting out in the fish-keeping hobby. Vitually everything you'll need comes in the box. However, when I bought my BiOrb a year ago, there was no heater included. If you want to keep tropical fish, you will likely need to purchase BiOrb's heater kit if they haven't yet decided to include a heater in the package. You can purchase a small heater at any good pet store, but it's likely to be a bit of an eyesore in the BiOrb.

I keep 3 dwarf African frogs and one dwarf puffer in the BiOrb and there is ample room. Cleaning day is about every 8 weeks and is generally only a matter of changing a few gallons of water and taking out the old filter cartridge and putting a new one in. The tank is well-aerated and you never see fish gasping for air at the top. Plus, it's a gorgeous tank.

My only complaint is that when I bought the BiOrb, I had no idea that they would soon come out with a 16-gallon version. I definitely would have gotten the larger tank, since with the smaller one, you have to severely limit the number of fish or aquatic creatures you keep in it. With the 16 gallon tank, you can have double the number of pets. Still, I'm very happy with my BiOrb.

Review by Pass-the-Salt: 1 Aquarium Bowls

51R6C7KanBL. SL75 Aquarium BowlsI have owned a Baby Biorb (.99) for 10 months now, and I am VERY UNhappy with it. Irreconciliable personality conflicts among fishmates prompted me to purchase a second acrylic tank (10 gallons at only .99) within 2 months of purchasing the Biorb, so I am able to report on the comparative performance of the 2 rival tanks. The Biorb is superior to the other tank in ONLY 2 ways: 1) Its silver plastic accents are more attractive than the standard black plastic accents of the 10-gallon tank; and 2) The Biorb's biological filtration system (the ceramic media foster bacterial growth and proliferation, unlike the plain gravel in my other tank) sped up the aquarium's cycling process, whereby the Biorb had fully matured in exactly HALF the time required by the other tank. Now for the BAD news: The Biorb's poorly engineered filter set-up necessitates lifting the soiled filter from the BOTTOM of the tank for replacement, at which time the disturbed filter releases appalling pollution into the tank. The replacement filter barely stands a chance of removing the residual pollution, let alone maintaining a healthy environment for the next "4 to 8 weeks." As a result, I am finding myself replacing the filter an average of every 2 to 3 weeks, which - at .99 to .99 a pop - becomes ridiculously expensive, and the aquarium's water is perpetually yellow and unattractive. The other tank, on the other hand, boasts a filter set-up on the SURFACE of the water. I simply lift out the soiled filter - only .99 a pop - and replace it. No harm done. While the makers of the Biorb claim that the 360-degree view it affords of the fish inside really places Biorb ahead of the competition, I find that my second all-clear hexagonal tank likewise boasts

a 360-degree view. If I had it to do over again, I would NOT invest in a Biorb. The long-term expense is prohibitive, and the performance is poor.

biOrb Cleaner Pump

41V1RzuhyaL. SL160 Aquarium BowlsThe cleaner pump makes partial water changes easy and effective with minimum effort. A couple of squeezes on the hand pump is all that is needed to get the pump working. While emptying water from the aquarium the cleaner pump will also suck up dirt and debris from the bottom

  • The simple and easy way to change the water in your biOrb or biUbe.
  • The cleaner pump can also be used to pump water back into the aquarium, eliminating the need to struggle with heavy buckets of water.

biOrb Cleaner Pump Reviews

Review by Gwen: 5 Aquarium Bowls

41V1RzuhyaL. SL75 Aquarium BowlsI used to have a regular siphon to clean my tank and I had a hard time getting it to start at first (I had to learn how to use it through a few YouTube videos). But this siphon makes it SUPER easy! All you have to is pump it a few times and it starts! And honestly, I HATE cleaning my aquarium...but now I don't mind anymore!

Review by A. Mak: 3 Aquarium Bowls

41V1RzuhyaL. SL75 Aquarium Bowlsi disliked my old siphon pipes because i had to use my mouth to start the air pressure suction, so i decided to get this item with the pump. i like the suction pump but it doesnt work all the time. i really have to pump it several times before it sucks up water, and sometimes it doesnt work all that well. better than my old siphon pipes tho.

Tetra 29166 WaterWonders Aquarium Cube, 3 Gallons, Black Reviews

Review by J. Wills: 3 Aquarium Bowls

51QOTJZfJfL. SL75 Aquarium BowlsI bought this locally, and right out of the box, it didn't have the plant grid for the plants that it comes with. Which of course makes the plants all float up the second you try to do anything inside the tank. The filter however is awesome, it has adjustable flow, which is wonderful for a betta or any other fish that prefers little water movement. Keeps my water totally free of ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites. Condensation on the hood is a CONSTANT eye sore. While the setup has it's downfalls, it's still better by far than any other desktop with the dreaded lone undergravel filter and no lighting, often devoid of a hood altogether. I like that it has a cord cutout for if you want to add a heater or an airstone. The built in drawer is also very handy, but I don't recommend keeping water test strips in it, due to the humidity affecting them. It's good for stashing food and dechlorinator though.

Review by Amber L. Schwartzkopf: 4 Aquarium Bowls

51QOTJZfJfL. SL75 Aquarium BowlsI had always wanted a small, but attractive, aquarium for my desk. I came across this one on Amazon and thought, this is it! It works great with African Dwarf Frogs, I bought two and there is plenty of room for them and their plants. The initial investment ran me about total which included food, a small net, the plant, rocks, water conditioner, etc. I did find mine at Petsmart, but there are more colors/sizes and a lot of sale prices through Amazon that were comparable. I loved the light because its made of LEDs and does not get hot. I'm rather paranoid about hot light bulbs and plastic.

Review by D. Connelly: 5 Aquarium Bowls

41QdL%2BnpJjL. SL75 Aquarium BowlsIf you are going for a brightly colored tank, this is a winner. I love how the weighted bottom makes cleaning the tank super easy. When you suction the bottom of the tank, you don't have to try to reanchor them when you are done. I did end up trimming off some of the branches to make them fit in the tank but that's because I had a lot going on in the tank. I have puffers and wanted lots of foliage for them to hide from each other if they get aggressive. These are perfect.

Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System Twelve, 12 Gallons Reviews

Review by Ask Bjørn Hansen: 5 Aquarium Tanks

51zH5D8Z1fL. SL75 Aquarium TanksThis is a great starter aquarium. Order a book or two about having fish when you order the aquarium too and wait a week before getting fish.

In years past you'd have all sorts of work with the filters and such. With the bio-wheel that comes with this tank your only work is to occasionally replace the "physical filter" and do a partial water change. That's it! The tank also comes with a beautiful light that'll really make your fish shine.

You will need some gravel too and some plants and maybe a stone or two for the fish to hide behind. The gravel and such are best picked up at your local pet store. Start out with plastic plants rather than live plants; you'll have plenty to do anyway.

In my experience things are easier if you have a heater too. The fish likes the water temperature to be constant. I've been using a 150w heater with good success in this tank.

Let the tank run with the heater for a day or two to get the temperature stable. When you add your first fish, start out with just a few small fish (actually, in a 12 gallon tank you should always only have small fish, little tetras and such -- don't worry, they are beautiful) to get the bio-wheel going. Your books will explain it, but it takes some time for the biological processes to get going in the tank and keep things in balance, so the water can get poisonous quickly for your fish if you add too many. (Get a packet of test strips to test the water quality daily -- it's just when you get started, later the bio-wheel will keep things steady unless you keep too many fish in the tank).

I can also recommend getting another tank, maybe a 3 gallon tank, to keep new fish in before they go in the main tank. (Of course that only works if you keep small fish, with bigger fish the 12 gallon tank would be your quarantine tank...) :-)

Good luck!

Review by slybiker: 5 Aquarium Tanks

51zH5D8Z1fL. SL75 Aquarium TanksI have owned a system 3 for almost 6 years now! If there was 1 word to describe this it would be: Effortless.

This is a fine piece of machinery that looks and runs great, for years to come.

Maintenence:

-Change the filter every 1-3 months (depending on the clenliness of your fish and the nuber you have)

-25% water change every time you change the filter or every other time (again, depending on your fish

-I also reccomend a gravel cleaner

-About once every 8 months to a year, I have to clean out the impeller housing to clean out the junk that builds up because of reduced performance.(manual shows step by step instructions on how to do this, and if you loose your manual, go to marineland.com to download one for free)

Cons-

none really, but it is quite small. Recently I have been looking at the system 6 or 12.

*I'm not sure about how it would do with salt water, as I have not tried, but reading reviews I have not heard very positive things about that.

*After having it for about 5 years, white crust started to show up on the edged of the tank lip. One more thing to clean, but what can I say? I have nothing to complain about though, because you can look at other 6 year old systems and they would look like junk, where as mine is in perfect condition(except for the little ECLIPSE marking on the front is half worn off from use!)

All in all, I have been happy with this tank from day one and I'm sure will continue to be happy with it for years to come(if I don't upgrade, that is!) and I would definetly reccomend this to anybody wanting a quick to set up, long lasting, all in one machine that looks stylish. I hope this helps!

Super Pet My First Home Tank Topper Reviews

Review by S. Corum: 4 Aquarium Tanks

519zCMkjaxL. SL75 Aquarium TanksI would have given it 5 stars but my gerbils chewed the house up within a week or two and now after a couple of months they no longer have ramps. Currently, they're working on chewing up the shelves.

So I'm off to buy one that's entirely wire. Wish I had done that in the first place!

Review by Vera R. Boals: 4 Aquarium Tanks

519zCMkjaxL. SL75 Aquarium TanksGreat idea, but the plastic in the ramps and platforms isn't going to last much longer with my gerbils...they have chewed completely through one ramp and one platform. This would be a much better product if the ramps and platforms were made of a different (harder) material, or of wood. (The wood to give the gerbils something HEALTHY to chew on) Would be better if it came with an extra set of ramps and platforms until then.

Hydor Mini Heater Aquarium Heater, 7.5 Watts Reviews

Review by Brian J. Williams: 4 Aquarium Tanks

21D3DY5995L. SL75 Aquarium TanksThis heater works well, not bad for small tanks (5 gallons or less). I purchased this for my 1 gallon tank, and it heated the water up to the low 80s. The heater works submerged or placed under the tank. I keep my apartment on the cool side, so this heater did the trick. A word of warning, though--if you have a 1-gallon tank, make sure you have a thermometer in it, because if you keep your home temperature in the high 60s and into the 70s, chances are the heater will then heat the water too warmly, into the mid to upper 80s, at which point you'll have to unplug the heater and monitor the temp as needed. Still, not bad for the price.

Review by M. Lee: 4 Aquarium Tanks

21D3DY5995L. SL75 Aquarium TanksI bought these for my 2.5gallon killifish tanks. These heaters take up very little space in the small tanks, since they are flat.

But be aware that these heaters don't have temperature controls, so the water temperature will change when the room temperature changes. My tank temperature ranged from 92F to 70F with the heater plugged in from May to December. I had to unplug the heaters on very hot days. It seems that these heater will raise the water temperature in a 2.5gallon thank by 8 to10F over the room temperature.

Finally, all 6 mini heaters that I own have been reliable for 8 months now, and all are consistent in how much they heat the same volume of water.

Aquarium Water Changer - 25 ft. Reviews

Review by Kevin B: 5 Aquarium Tanks

313tJRvKclL. SL75 Aquarium TanksI own both this and the Python equivalent and it is painfully obvious that the Aqueon is way better made. The Python leaks horribly at the faucet connection and has snapped apart from the faucet multiple times. They're basically the same product, but the Aqueon is better quality and so I recommend it.

Review by Patricia Forgays: 4 Aquarium Tanks

313tJRvKclL. SL75 Aquarium TanksMy husband and I purchased a fish tank and needed to do a water change. Went to PetSmart to get a Python and they said they were discontinuing the line. So we went to PetLand and purchased the Aqueon. It worked great until we moved and now the tank is, oh I'd say a foot, too far for the water changer to work. So we went looking for an extention, like Python has, and it does not exist. This is why it is second best.

PS - We like all the other products though

Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System, 5 Gallons, Corner Reviews

Review by Rod Harrison: 4 Aquarium Tanks

51G2%2BB9cJUL. SL75 Aquarium TanksI have owned this aquarium for 3 years now. It looks great sitting on my kitchen counter. I could have been more consistent about cleaning the system (about 1x a month), but generally speaking the fish have thrived. Several mistakes I made include: 1) thinking that the bio-wheel needs to be occasionally replaced (don't go there) 2) leaving the light on too much which created an algae bloom, and 3) buying fish that outgrow this small aquarium. I made those mistakes in the first year. Since then it has been smooth sailing except for the light fixture burning out. The light switch is pretty cheap, so repeated use caused it to break. I rigged up another lighting system since I was not able to order a replacement part except for the whole lid unit (which costs as much as the aquarium), but it is not very satisfactory. I am breaking down and buying another aquarium just to get a functioning light. This time I am going to hook up the light to a timer and avoid overusing the switch.

51G2%2BB9cJUL. SL75 Aquarium TanksThis is by far the best aquarium kit i've used so far. Ive had it for around 1 month already. The filter and bio wheel do the job with keeping the water clear and ammonia levels close to non-existant, respectively. Fish seem very happy and healthy. I was so pleased with this tank, i bought another one!

Replacement Cartridge for Penguin 160, 170, 200B, 300, 330, 350B Filters - 6 pk Reviews

Review by Arnold Berger: 5 Aquarium Filter

51EkAGtOYwL. SL75 Aquarium FilterThe Penguin Bio-wheel pumps are great: quiet, effective and long-lasting. (I have a 170 filter in a 39 gallon tank.) These size C filters are widely available, but the Amazon price is much lower than at my not-so-nearby pet store.

A word of warning. The day after changing my filter three months ago fish started dying. Next morning my 6" long Plecostomus was dead. Then three Clown Loaches, each about 5 " long. Within a week I had lost 18 of my 20 fish. Yet there was no sign of disease.

A water test and much internet searching finally pointed out what I had done wrong. I had neglected my tank for a few weeks. In a rush to catch up, I siphoned out about 30 percent of the water (more than usual), did a "better" than usual job of siphoning up detritus from the gravel. Then - my biggest mistake - I replaced the Penguin filter too! The result is the water chemistry changed too quickly. The Nitrates spiked to a deadly level. My tank, healthy for more than two years, needed to be started over. Took two months and many water changes before I could safely add new fish.

I visited perhaps a dozen "fish forums" and only one had a comment saying "don't change filters when you do a water change.' The Penguin filters and the box they come in carry no warnings. What I (and you) should do is simple: space your water changes and filter changes a week or two apart.

Now knowing how important the "aged" filter is (especially in a tank like mine with no under gravel filter) I've started this habit: there's just enough space to get a second filter flat against the old filter. After a couple of weeks, I remove the older filter and put the newer one - by now doing some biological filtering - in its place. That way the tank is never depending on only a new filter. For larger tanks (say 55 gal and up), the 330 or 350 Penguin pump holds two filters side by side, so just change one filter at a time.

Hope this helps you avoid the disaster that hit my tank

Review by Tyler Forge: 5 Aquarium Filter

51EkAGtOYwL. SL75 Aquarium FilterI bought a load of these and saved a ton of money. Petsmart ships, so no amazon prime savings. Still, what a deal. My big tank takes 8 filters. I was avoiding changing them because of cost.

Funny, I changed all 8 at the same time and threw my tank out of whack. Too much algae and goo left the system with the old filters. I'll change 'em in stages from now on.

Review by Toshio Shimada: 4 Aquarium Filter

21soZ4G3B8L. SL75 Aquarium FilterThe Aquaclear power filters are the best in the market. These filters provide a HUGE surface area for an efficient biological treatment of the aquarium water. I own four of these filters and have been running continuously for more than three years! They are extremely quiet. I have experienced only two problems with these filters. First, the filters drain into the aquarium during power outages and will not restart on their own. Second, if not cleaned frequently the foam blocks will be pushed upwards and displace the cover. Overall, these are great filters and I would not replace them for another power filter.

Marineland Emperor Power Filter 400 Reviews

Review by Ronald L. Russell: 5 Aquarium Filter

219GYGXAW5L. SL75 Aquarium FilterI've used a pair of Emperor 400 filters on a 75 gallon tank continuously for the past five years or so. So far, neither has needed attention other than filter changes and recently, new impellers. After five years, the constantly spinning impellers had worn their shafts and bushings to the point where they made a rattley noise, although they still moved water effectively. Replacing the impellers was an easy repair, and restored the unit to almost total silence. The filter may actually now be quieter than when it was new, as there appeared to be a slight design change in the new impellers when compared to the old ones. The loudest sound is that of water returning into the tank, which varies from almost inaudible to a gentle splashing sound, depending on whether the water level is above the level of the return chutes or below them. The tank is located in the living room where I watch television, and I'm never distracted by the sounds of the filters.

For almost anyone, a single Emperor would provide adequate filtration, however at the time I purchased them, I had seven huge goldfish in the tank, who produced vast quantities of waste matter. Eventually the goldfish grew too large for the tank and were relocated to a pond in the backyard, and the tank was restocked with a variety of colorful tropical fish.

The big selling feature for the Emperor 400 is the dual biowheels, which provide a highly oxygenated living space for beneficial bacteria to colonize. These bacteria help remove some of the waste products which the fish produce, resulting in healthier fish, and extending the time interval between water changes, and thus reducing maintainence of the aquarium. Other filters have alternative methods of providing biological filtration, but the biowheel is so effective that it can keep nitrates at an undetectable level. The Emperor filters, both the 400 and the 280, have an adjustable spraybar above the biowheels. Water falling onto the wheels from the spraybar helps insure that the biowheels never stop turning, and allows the user to adjust the speed at which they turn. The standard Penguin filters have biowheels, but no spraybars, and so the biowheels only turn by the action of water flowing beneath them, with no adjustment for speed. I'm still using the original biowheels which came with my filters, with no end in sight. I've never even cleaned them or seen any need to do so.

These filters are made of a black, slightly flexible plastic which seems to be less brittle than the transparant material used on some other filters. I used to use the original Marineland brand replacement cartridges, but have since found that some aftermarket filter pads for the Emperor are made with a reuseable frame which snaps together on either side of the filter pad. This allows the user to purchase filter floss in a bulk roll. When the filter pad becomes clogged, I simply cut new floss pads to fit the frame, making the cost of renewing filter pads extremely low.

As others have mentioned, each filter has four slots for filter cartridges. And the Emperor 400 comes with two refillable media containers which can occupy two of those slots, if you choose to use them. They can hold extra carbon, zeolite, or other material. I have mine filled with porous ceramic noodles.

The Emperor 400 has a control for water volume, so you can turn it down when feeding your fish, preventing all the food from being sucked into the filter. After the fish have finished eating, the volume can be set back to "high", however I have left it in the second slowest postion for weeks at a time, and the fish seemed to be content. I have found that if the volume control is not moved for a long time, it tends to accumulate mineral deposits and become stiff. So, I turn it down every day when feeding, then turn it back up a couple of hours later. Also, if the power is interrupted while water volume is turned down, the filter takes longer to prime itself and begin pumping properly. If power fails when volume is turned up, the filter restarts with no problem when power is restored.

The Emperor 400 comes with a cleaning brush for the spray bars and an extension for the water intake to be used if you have a very deep tank. My own tank is fairly deep, and the extension would bring the intake nearer the bottom, however I don't use the extension, and filtration seem fine.

When setting up an aquarium, it should be born in mind that the closer to a natural habitat you can get, the healthier your fish will be and the less maintainence will be required. My own tank is set up as follows:

Two inches of "Eco-Complete planted aquarium substrate" soil purchased in sealed bags at the local store AquariumConnection. The soil is intended for use in aquariums with live plants, which feed on some of the wastes. In the soil, there are approximately 20 Anubis plants scattered around the tank. The fish love to swim between and around the leaves, or hide behind them. From time to time, eggs are laid on the leaves of the plants. The bright green leaves stand out in vivid contrast against the nearly black soil. Two 15 watt fluorescent lights provide illumination to stimulate photsynthesis in the plants.

I strongly recommend that you do NOT use any type of gravel, colored or otherwise, as food falls down into the gravel where fish cannot reach it, and where it rots and fouls the water. If you choose to use gravel, you MUST vacuum the gravel on a weekly basis, and your water still will not be as clean. Gravel equals more work and dirtier water. Sand is better than gravel as food cannot fall down into the sand, but sand still doesn't provide nutrition for live plants. Use Eco-Complete soil or something comparable, both you and your fish will be happier.

I also recommend that you do NOT use any type of undergravel filter, as these will also require frequent vacuuming, and eventual dismantling of the tank to clean beneath the filter plate. With the Emperor, you won't need additional filters. And again, undergravel filters equal more work and lower water quality. I NEVER vacuum the soil, and perform a 20% water change every week or so. Filter cartridges tend to last several months.

The fish themselves consist of a number of cory catfish, who snuffle around through the soil and pick up whatever falls from above. There are as well golden tetras, cardinal tetras, redline tetras, silver dollars, danios, flying clouds, and mollies, and one otocinclus catfish. Some of the cory catfish are grandfathers several times over, and have grown to a large size in the five years or so they have lived in this tank.

I feed them once each day, around 6:00 pm. Supper consists of several spirulina wafers, plus a pinch of flake food about the size of a nickle, which I crush between my fingers to produce many very fine particles.

To sum up, the Emperor 400 is an efficient and durable filter which will help provide good water quality and healthy fish.

Penguin BIO-Wheel 350 Power Filter - up to 75 Gallon Reviews

Review by Mr. Ulysses R. Unzueta: 5 Aquarium Filter

21EUWqdHA1L. SL75 Aquarium FilterDid my research and people couldnt tell the difference from the Emperor 400. So i bought this since it's price tag was way cheaper than the 400. Ive been running this for about 2 months on my 75 gallon tank. I have an Oscar and they're messy eaters and leave particles in the water from some certain types of foods. The particles dissapear after 20 minutes due to the power filter's water gallon suction ratio. I completely love how silent it is. You need to fill the tank up to at least the waterfall lips of the filter so you wont hear the water splashing. Good good stuff here.

Review by C. Cooke: 4 Aquarium Filter

21EUWqdHA1L. SL75 Aquarium FilterI have a 55 gallon community tank with angels, pleco's, clown loaches, and cory cats. Some messy fish, but this filter carries the load. My only recommendation is to clean the intake tube with each water change. It gets pretty gunked up, very easily.

Penguin BIO-Wheel 100 Power Filter - up to 20 Gallon Reviews

Review by Scott Baret: 5 Aquarium Filter

216ukNaivML. SL75 Aquarium FilterI got my fish tank in 1998 and had an older BioWheel filter. However it was pretty much DOA when I got it as the wheel didn't turn. I instead settled for an underground filter. However, the cartridge on that went bad last year (it always does every few months) and I forgot to replace it.

A few weeks ago I went to my Uncle's house. He's always been into fish tanks and I saw how clear his water was compared to mine. Being that I hadn't cleaned my tank in a while I figured I should revamp it when I got home. I thought maybe my filter needed replaced.

Upon my return home I cleaned the tank and bought this filter for at Petsmart (Amazon is great but the seems a bit high for this compared to what I got it for). It only took a few hours and my water suddenly looked as good as my Uncle's.

I also fixed the old filter, but this one works better. Sometimes I leave both of them on to provide extra oxygen. This filter has easy to change cartridges that need replaced about once a month or so. They'll probably set you back a bit, but based on this filter's performance so far I will definitely keep up the maintence.

H.O.T. Magnum Canister Filter - up to 55 Gallon Reviews

Review by Perry Munger IV: 5 Aquarium Filter

3161C83VMKL. SL75 Aquarium FilterI bought the H.O.T. Magnum because it was the cheapest canister filter at the local petstore. Good move. Using the micron filter, it got rid of the cloudiness in my tank in about three days (55 gal tank). I switched it to carbon and it as been working like a champ. My tank also has two high-capacity over-tank filters of the normal type, and they constantly overflow and pour gunk into the tank. The H.O.T. Magnum doesn't do this. It is set to suck from my undergravel filter, which, combined with a powerhead, has really reduced floating stuff in the tank. I'm going to get a Magnum 350 pro next and get rid of both my normal over-tank filters.

Review by D. Cullen: 5 Aquarium Filter

3161C83VMKL. SL75 Aquarium FilterI just set up my 2nd 50 gallon fish tank and decided to try this filter set up instead of the FilStar Canister Filter that I have used for years in my original tank. I don't know if you need to but I am using 2 of these filters in my tank. They do a marvelous job, the extra filter works great, you just put it in for a few hours and your tank is crystal clear! The main advantage I see to these filters is, since they sit at the back top of your tank you never have to worry about the filter leaking. There have been a couple of times I haven't gotten the lid quite sealed enough on my canister filter and woke up to 3 inches of water in my tank cabinet. Fortunately my husband built the cabinet quite sturdy and water proof!

Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel 150 Power Filter Reviews

Review by Diana: 3 Aquarium Filter

211EJZ Y%2BqL. SL75 Aquarium FilterI have been using a Biowheel 150 on my 29-gallon aquarium for well over a year, and find that for the price, it's an okay product. It keeps the aquarium clean, changing filter inserts (I put two in my unit) is easy, and haven't had any problems with the impeller. The only drawbacks I've seen with this particular power filter is the fact that, as one other reviewer stated, if the electricity happens to go out in the home, the filter doesn't always start up again on its own once the power comes back on. And I also find that unless the water level in the tank reaches the outflow part of the filter (which means the water level has to be at absolute maximum in the tank at all times), the filter is noisy...the sound of the water splashing into the tank from the filter is distracting. It's certainly not as quiet as some other filters I've used in the past, but for overall performance, it's not a bad product. I'd rate it at 3-1/2 stars if the option was available for half-stars. ;o)

Review by Samaneh Zhian: 5 Aquarium Filter

211EJZ Y%2BqL. SL75 Aquarium FilterI'm using this filter for my 20gal fish tank and it is working great. It keeps my aquarium very clean. It was a bit noisy in the first 2 days but after that there is no noise anymore, even Some times I feel like its not working at all!
